war is terrorism

Today as I was watching a recap of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, I was once again sickened. Not just by the devastation caused by those claiming it was God's will, but for what has occurred since. This attack on our nation wasn't random. It was the culminating event of years of bad American foreign relations. Of course this doesn't condone the actions of the al-Qaeda, but neither do the events of 9/11 justify the Unites States' choice in continuing the destruction of human lives. Instead of working to mend America's image; terror was sanctioned in the name 'War on Terrorism'. Wasn't it enough that almost 3000 people died that day, without adding more human suffering? Of the thousands of people killed since the US started bombing, how many of those were terrorists? The count of Americans killed in this war has long since passed the number of Americans who died on September 11, 2001.

War is terrorism. 'War on Terrorism' is redundant.

“The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it... Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate.... Returning violence for violence multiplies violence”
- Martin Luther King
